About Satellite Internet
Satellite broadband is an alternative to cable or fibre broadband. It allows you to connect wherever you live as the internet is beamed down to your house from a satellite in space. We don’t rely on standard infrastructure to deliver your broadband and this how we can provide 100% nationwide coverage.
The system installed at your home consists of a satellite dish, a cable, and a modem. The satellite dish is where satellite broadband differs from your standard cable or fiber broadband; instead of connecting to a hub of data servers via cables, you connect to data servers by beaming your information to a satellite in space, which then beams your information back down to the data hub. The result is very similar, it’s just the journey the information takes that is different.
Speed And Congestion
Unlike other providers of satellite internet, we promise not to turn off your connection when you have reached your data allowance.
What this means is that when the network is not busy and even if you’ve used up your Priority Data Allowance, nothing will happen to your service. During busy times you will experience a drop-in service which will result in slower speeds. Web pages and videos may respond and load more slowly than usual, while you will still be able to get online, the speed will be slower than when you are within your priority data allowance.
We monitor average speeds on a monthly basis using the ASA’s methodology (used by all the major internet service providers) the findings are shown below.
Average speeds for non-prioritised data during peak times were obtained between 1st and 31st January 2020.

Unlimited Usage And Fair Usage Policy
Satellite is an amazing technology that allows people who otherwise could not get connected to access fast broadband. As with all broadband technologies, there is a finite amount of available bandwidth so to ensure all our customers get a fair share of data and a great speed we have a fair usage policy that forms part of the contract you sign up with us.
We use traffic shaping for customers who use more than their priority data allowance in a given month. For Bronze this is 10GB, for Silver customers it would be 50GB and for Gold it would be 100GB.
It’s important to choose the right package for your needs and we appreciate that talk of Mbps and GB all sound quite abstract. So why not get in touch with one of our specialists on +44 (0) 1869 222 893. They are on hand to talk you through your specific needs.
